BACK OF BEYOND by C.J. Box: A Review

I love C.J. Box. I discovered him about 2 years ago, and have since read everything by him. His popular Joe Pickett series is awesome, taking place in rural Wyoming (and what part of Wyoming isn't rural?) Pickett is a game warden who gets himself into all kinds of crazy situations.

Back of Beyond is one of the few "stand alone" Box books. This one takes place in Yellowstone Park, where a group of people are off on an adventure of a lifetime...going out to the "Back of Beyond". Cody Hoyt, rogue lawman, must find a killer, or killers by venturing into Yellowstone himself.

I picked up the book Saturday night, and was finished by Monday morning. Unlike many mysteries, this one throws so many curves at you that it is hard to keep up with it all. Each time I thought I had it solved something threw a wrench in it!

If you have read the Pickett books, you will love this newest Box book. If you haven't read the Pickett books, start with this stand alone, and then when finished, pick up Open Season and fall in love with a new cast of characters...you won't regret it!

You will LOVE him. It is fun to read about mysteries outside of the big city. I absolutely loved Montana when I was there, and though I have never been to Wyoming, Box makes it come alive, and it makes me think of Montana. Hearing about the elk, moose, etc... just makes for a totally different kind of read.
